Job Description and Duties

Under the close supervision of the Lottery Manager (Sales), the Program Technician (PT) is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to providing specialized technical services to Lottery winners, players and retailers. The PT is assigned to a district office and provides information and assistance, either on the telephone, in person or in writing, on rules, regulations, forms, status of claims, etc. to players and members of the public.

Who May Apply

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Knowledge of customer service principles, including the ability to handle challenging customers and retailers while providing service in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Clerical work experience that includes knowledge of basic research and data gathering and record-keeping techniques.
  • Detail-oriented in work deliverables.
